Today marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Marilyn Munroe. The beautifull woman who paved the way for strong, independent women around the world. I did not start to appreciate the wise words of Marilyn until i was at least 21, thus being the time i needed to hear them the most. We all have our struggles as independent woman – even Marilyn Munroe. Unfortunately, although Marilyn was wise she succomed to the enemy within all women “insecurity”, a troubled mind leads to distruction. In her case death. She battled addiction, health and relationship issues which imcluded three divorces and died of an overdose at age 36 in 1962.
As a woman i too have that need to be respected, that urge to succeed, that anxiety that comes from expectations and dissapointment from failing to the joy of men. I cant help but think “this must have been how Marilyn Munroe felt”
We need to always remember “that we CAN do anything” and “though we may be beautifull; underneath the makeup, perfectly positioned hair and 6inch heels we ARE intelligent”. We are Superwoman.
I will forever be in her debt for teaching me courage and strength through her words. xx
A simple quote spoken by a wise woman could lift your spirits; as it does mine. Below are my favorites.
“Well behaved women rarely make history”
“Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition.”
“I don’t mind living in a man’s world, as long as I can be a woman in it.”
“I don’t want to be rich, I just want to be loved.”
“A wise girl kisses but doesn’t love, listens but doesn’t believe, and leaves before she is left”
“I restore myself when I’m alone.”
“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so you can appreciate them when they’re right. You believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself. And sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together”
